Douglas Amos joined the Erie Philharmonic as third trumpet in May of 2018 and in October 2019 won the position of second trumpet. Additionally, Douglas plays in orchestras across the midwest and New England. Some of these include: the Fort Wayne Philharmonic, Toledo Symphony Orchestra, Lansing Symphony Orchestra, Canton Symphony Orchestra, and Akron Symphony Orchestra. Douglas graduated from the New England Conservatory with a Masters in Music in 2017 and now lives in Toledo, OH with his fiancé Megan Shusta, Principal Horn of the Toledo Symphony Orchestra. Douglas is a private teacher in the Toledo Area and is on the trumpet faculty at Mynett Music and gives masterclasses at local schools.
Douglas has attended many prestigious summer music festivals across the country such as the Aspen Music Festival and the Lake George Music Festival. He has performed in many world-class concert halls such as Symphony Hall in Boston, Carnegie Hall in New York, and the New World Center in Miami.
In addition to playing and teaching trumpet, Douglas is a music theory and solfege teacher and was a faculty member at the New England Conservatory School of Continuing Education. He taught music literacy and ear training levels 1 and 2 from 2015-2017.
